EU Leaders Back 2050 Net-Zero Plans With Inclusion Of Nuclear
EU leaders have backed plans to cut the bloc’s carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050, with the exception of coal-reliant Poland. The target is part of a plan to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent. After a European Council summit in Brussels focusing on 2050 climate neutrality policies, the leaders of EU member states – bar Poland – agreed on Friday to commit to going carbon neutral by 2050.The Czech Republic and Hungary backed the plans after calling for nuclear to be included in a document detailing the summit’s conclusions. The document acknowledges member states’ right to decide on the technologies they will use.
